School Train

Description    Fares    Schedule

The Northwest Railway Museum is pleased to announce dates for School Train 2003, a program that teaches children about Washington railway history.  School Train 2003 will be offered on three Fridays, May 2, 9, and 16.  The School Train program is designed for students in grade four, but is adaptable to other age groups.  Reservations are required.

School Train includes a video on railroad safety and a tour of the 1890-built Snoqualmie Depot, the oldest continuously operating train station in the state.  Students learn about local history and the railway's impact on area development.  The highlight of the program is an excursion aboard the Museum's interpretive railroad, where participants experience first-hand what it was like to travel by train in an era before Interstate highways and jet aircraftSchool Train can accommodate a maximum of 100 people for each two-hour session.

School Train sessions are scheduled for 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.  Your group should plan to arrive at the Snoqualmie Depot at least 10 minutes early to allow for administrative matters and for your session to start on time. Home schools may find the 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. times most convenient.  There is not enough time for students to eat lunch during the School Train program.

The cost is $4 per student, payable in advance.  The price increases to $5 per student if paid on or after the School Train day.  For each six paid student admissions, one teacher or adult chaperon (who is expected to assist with discipline and safety) is admitted free.  For groups with a ratio higher than one adult per six students, each additional adult is $4.  Schools who use Purchase Orders, if payment is not received by April 18, you will be charged at the $5 per person rate.  We will invoice your school for the number of reservations made or the number of students in attendance, whichever is greater.

School Train 2003 is offered at 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM on May 2, May 9, and May 16.
